In the first half of 2014, the affiliated frozen warehouse of Nam Kwong Logistics affiliated frozen warehouse, under the care and support of the company, under the professional guidance of the external consultant company, and with the joint efforts of all colleagues, was managed to obtain the dual qualification certificate of food safety management system under SGS Hong Kong Limited and HACCP. Since then, it has become the first logistics company in Macau with the dual qualifications. The approval of the dual qualifications means that the logistics company's operation procedures, such as warehousing and distribution of food goods, are in line with the standards of the international food supply chain, which could provide customers with confidence and quality assurance. As a result, the logistics company has taken a critical step in the management of frozen food supply chains.
The ISO22000 and HACCP system certification work was an important part of the logistics company's 2014 standardization system construction work. The implement of the project shall be attributed to the care and attention of the company leaders and the close cooperation of various departments. The project proceeded in three stages.
Diagnosis and Planning
As a veteran logistics company that has been operating in Macau for decades, Nam Kwong Logistics has established standards for cargo storage, distribution and document classification in line with Macau industry standards and the international standards. In the diagnosis and planning stage of the frozen warehouse's own operation system, the logistics company outlined a clear operating system and certification plan. The project was followed up by a special ISO certification working group composed of personnel from within the logistics companies to ensure the smooth proceeding of the certification work.
Internal Audit and Improvement
According to the initial certification plan, the ISO certification working group of the logistics company, under the guidance of the consulting company, carried out trial operation in line with the ISO22000 standard. The group carried out an internal audit by complying with a strict standard, through which the company was able to discover some irregular and unsettled problems in the work procedure. Then, the logistics company made positive improvements and established the normal operation of the system.
Formal review stage
After the internal audit stage, the logistics company's affiliated frozen warehouse has established relatively complete operating standards and specifications for food storage, distribution and other processes. During the review stage, experts from SGS Hong Kong Limited interviewed some staff from the frozen warehouse of the logistics company and randomly check relevant materials. Afterwards, they gave full affirmation to the food safety and hygiene management of the frozen warehouse and provided dome useful suggestions.
Through careful preparation and improvement, the logistics company's affiliated frozen warehouse finally obtained the ISO22000 and HACCP dual qualification certification, which laid a solid foundation for further development of the logistics company's market in Macao and surrounding areas. Meanwhile, it helped build a good plat form for further internationalization of the company. However, this work was only one part of the logistics company's standardization system construction. It was just a beginning, and the company still has a long way to go. The logistics company will continue to forge ahead and lay a solid foundation to further improve the management level.
